The entry level swimming assistant qualification provides you with a practical introduction to teaching swimming and leads onto a choice of level 2 qualifications to become a qualified swimming teacher. We also offer a number of level 3 specialised courses for experienced teachers.

SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching)

Begin your swim teaching career with our practical entry level course.
Achieve a solid foundation in what it takes to be able to assist a qualified swimming teacher in swimming lessons.
This qualification provides 10 CIMSPA points fully endorsed against CIMSPA’s Assistant Swimming Teacher Professional Standard.
No experience necessary.

SEQ Level 2 in Teaching Swimming

Structured support – 50 hours total qualification time, including 38 guided hours, blending theory with hands-on teaching and real-time feedback upon assessment.
Flexible entry routes – start directly, progress from Learn to Swim Helper CPD course, or upgrade from SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification.
This qualification provides 10 CIMSPA points fully endorsed against CIMSPA’s Swimming Teacher Professional Standard.

SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming

This qualification builds on your assistant swimming teacher experience and provides the skills needed to become a qualified swimming teacher.
Suitable for individuals wishing to teach swimming to children and adults.
This qualification provides 10 CIMSPA points fully endorsed against CIMSPA’s Swimming Teacher Professional Standard.

SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddlers

This qualification builds on your assistant swimming teacher experience and provides the skills needed to become a qualified babies and toddlers swimming teacher.
Suitable for individuals wishing to teach swimming to children from birth to the age of five.

SEQ Level 2 Outdoor Swimming Leader

This qualification provides you with the knowledge and skills to confidently risk assess, plan, prepare and lead safe and effective outdoor swimming sessions from within the water, for groups of up to eight swimmers in sheltered water.
Suitable for experienced outdoor swimmers who are able to swim at least 800 metres continuously on their front in open water.

SEQ Level 3 Aquatic Activity for Health

This qualification builds on the Level 3 fitness instructor qualification.
It provides the knowledge and skill to be able to plan and conduct aquatic exercises for people referred to you with health issues or injuries.
This CIMSPA endorsed qualification provides 10 CIMSPA CPD points.
This qualification provides 8 UCAS points.

SEQ Level 3 Managing Learn to Swim Programmes

This qualification is for learners who wish to take on the responsibility of managing Learn to Swim programmes, it will help you develop the skills and confidence to do so effectively.
Whether you’re already working in aquatics or aiming to move into a leadership role, you’ll learn how to coordinate the safe and effective delivery of high-quality swimming programmes that truly make a difference in people’s lives.
You’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead, manage, and continually improve Learn to Swim programmes.

SEQ Level 3 Education and Training Qualification

This qualification is for learners who want to undertake the role of educator.
It provides the knowledge, skills and understanding, enabling them to deliver education and training to individuals and groups within their technical competency.
This CIMSPA endorsed qualification provides 10 CIMSPA CPD points.
This qualification provides 8 UCAS points.

SEQ Level 3 Teaching Pre-School Swimming (Advanced)

This qualification is for learners who want to become a Water Babies Teacher.
This qualification will enable you to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate Water Babies swimming lessons independently. This qualification may also enable individuals to seek employment within the Water Babies franchise.
